WASHINGTON – Jan. 24, 2007– Specialty Hospitals of America, LLC (SHA), has appointed Edwin D. Clark to the position of regional chief financial director. Mr. Clark joins the company, which has two Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospitals and two skilled nursing facilities within the D.C. region, as it embarks on additional acquisitions and developments.
Announcing the appointment, SHA president Eric F. Rieseberg noted that Clark brings valuable experience from the healthcare industry where he worked his way up in the field of finance, as well as from the major corporate and municipal clients where he worked as financial consultant. “SHA is following a focused center of medical excellence business model to redevelop hospitals; and already we are the largest provider of LTAC services in the Washington region,” stated Rieseberg. “Ed’s many years of healthcare experience will enable him to guide us in making decisions that are consistent with our mission, and we will rely him for financial expertise as we add new regions and facilities.”
Mr. Clark started his career at the hospital chain Integrated Health Services, Inc., where he was promoted many times, culminating in the position as the company’s senior vice president of financial operations. Since 2003 he has since worked as a consultant, independently and later with the firm Alvarez and Marsal. Client assignments included the energy, municipal and healthcare sectors. He is a CPA with a B.S. degree from the University of Baltimore. Mr. Clark lives in eastern Maryland and will work at SHA’s offices in Washington.
SHA develops and operates Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospitals, a specialized category of healthcare facilities that focus on caring for patients with medically complex needs that require a high level of nursing and specialized medical technology. SHA is headquartered in Portsmouth, N.H.; the two Washington, D.C. hospitals are SHW-Capitol Hill, at 700 Constitution Avenue, NE, and SHW-Hadley, which is located at 4601 M.L. King Avenue, SE.
